YQ: Yearly Quata Met

As of the post before this my self appointed yearly quota of a 32 post minimum for the year 2013 was met.  YAY Me!
I usually aim to get about 36 posts per year, which is an average of 3 posts per month much better than the lowest I ever had of only 18 posts in 2010 lazy year. I started slow that year and directing a show helped bottle up things even more.

So this year will possibly surpass my big year of 2007 in which I made 43 posts.

Look even Leena is proud of my achievement.

Warehouse 13 Wednesday: 4.13 The Big Snag

EPISODE 4.13: "The Big Snag"
Original Air Date: 13 May 2013
Pete: "The Black and White goes on forever, and everything smells like fudge."

Warning: this review may contain spoilers

This past Monday 27 May 2013 was Memorial Day in the US so SyFy in their tradition of airing those original Insect-Dinosaur-Alien-Franken-Monster ZZ-Grade movies instead of regular episodes of any series on holidays, Didn't show an episode of Warehouse 13. So I will review the WH13 episode from two weeks ago since I already reviewed last week's episode and I am not yet ready to review past episodes from the DVDs (ancient artifact memory or lack of and all that). The next new episode has the long expected semi-annual return of H.G. Wells (Jaime Murray)

Episode thirteen of season four "The Big Snag" aired on 13 May 2013, this episode starts off with the illusion of being one of those stuck in the warehouse episodes, but really isn't. Pete and Myka are in the depths of the warehouse capturing static electricity balls with the use of an artifact, apparently the energy of all the artifacts occasionally creates minor problems like static electricity balls. While in a section of books and manuscripts they find an unfinished mystery novel with blank pages. The novel was never finished because the author went missing and was assumed dead. The unfinished manuscript gets wammied and they are zapped into black and white in a film noir private eye's office. They realize they are in the unfinished novel. Then A mysterious blonde (Missi Pyle) gives the crime novel cliche story of her missing husband and tells about a mysterious jade elephant statue she says have magic powers. Her husband was trying to find the artifact. The elephant was the artifact Pete and Myka were using to contain the electricity balls.

People in the black and white novel are ending up dead due to someone using the Maltese Fal.. um Jade Elephant, while tracking it down they soon realize the blonde was only posing as the wife of the missing husband and discover that the real wife is the one using the Elephant. Meanwhile the blonde (Lily) falls for the missing author (Enrico Colantoni) who is posing as a bartender. Pete and Myke find him and realize that he is the missing author. He explains to Pete and Myka his story and that the character of Lily is modeled after his late wife.

Side Note: Missi Pyle and Enrico Colantoni appeared together in the Sci-Fi Star Trek Parody film Galaxy Quest as the FanAliens (I forget the name of the Aliens). I think this is a Galaxy Quest reunion of sorts as I don't think they had done anything else together.

Lily and the bartender/author plan on going to Bora Bora and he doesn't want to finish the story, but Pete and Myka insist it has to be finished so that they can return to the real world and they try to get him to come but he would rather live out his life with Lily. Love wins in the end and Pete and Myka are returned to the Warehouse in the real world where they discover the novel has been finished and learn the Author and Lily made it to Bora Bora to live out their days.

This episode was OK but I admit I was a bit confused especially a bit with the B plot since I was only half paying attention to that part of the episode as I was more interested in the black and white novel plot. Odd since normally this subplot is the type that appeals to me more than film noir mysteries. I think it was the use of the black and white. So B Plot Claudia and Jinks tell Artie about a ping they discovered about classic sports cars that are disappearing and then reappearing at a car dealer. At first I thought it was a made up story to get Artie out of the slump he was in but it was a real event. Long story that I only half paid attention to short is a saleswoman at the car dealer where these cars were ending up was using a pair of gloves that originally belonged to a stunt driver that allows the driver of the car to drive through walls and just about anything to steal the cars and resell them. The special effects of the car passing though things, especially when it passes through Artie reminded me of an episode or two of Quantum Leap where a car passes through Al.

OK so even with the half attention span this was a good episode the black and white part I give 4 warehouse artifacts to **** while the other half I give 3 artifacts to *** so I guess that means I give this episode 3.5 warehouse artifacts ***.5

Myka Monday: Help Save Warehouse 13

I know my blog doesn't get too many visitors and it probably won't get the attention needed to make a difference but in light of the news that SyFy is CANCELLING Warehouse 13 after a very very short only six episodes Season 5, I am doing my part to try to help save the show. My favorite character (well one of many, but one of the main reasons I watch the show) is Myka Bering played by the lovely Canadian Lass Joanne Kelly. I will try every Monday, the night that Warehouse 13 is aired*, to post a new picture of Joanne.

For this first installment of this (hopefully) regular feature. I will show the source picture for my Myka Monday Logo.
(image from:
I would really like them to reconsider and RENEW the show for a FULL SEASON FIVE and BEYOND. WH13 is the type of show that could easily be a 10 Season show if given the chance.

I'm working on getting a few of these queued up to insure that I have more than just this lone one installment.
*The first season or two Warehouse 13 was on Wednesday nights at 8:00 PM I think. Now in the next to last Season 4 it airs Monday Nights at 10:00 PM. Last season it was at 9:00 PM.

Warehouse 13 Wednesday

Hello welcome to what might become a regular feature. I'm not sure it will but if it happens it happens. One of my favorite television shows is Warehouse 13 which airs Monday Evenings on the cable SyFy Channel. That channel recently announced that they have partially renewed the show for next season, Season 5 but only for Six episodes and then they will cancell the show. If I continue with this feature I will try to post a review or mini review of the previous Monday's episode, sadly until the final episode sometime next year. :(

For sometime now I have been thinking about doing some reviews or mini-reviews of the Episodes of this show. I was going to start from the beginning while I watched the DVDs but with this cancellation revelation and the second part of season 4 already in full swing I might as well start with this past episode and then I'll play catch-up later and when all is said and done I can make a list of my reviews with links to the posts so they can be viewed in the proper order.

On Monday 20 May 2013 SyFy Channel aired
Episode 4.14 "The Sky's The Limit":
PETE: "Come on 'coach' it's the fourth quarter, don't bench me."
MYKA: "Pete (sigh)... I left cookies in the glove compartment"

Warning this review may contain spoilers.
In a nutshell the main plot (with 2 subplots or more) was that in Las Vegas people were falling from the sky. Witnesses said they appeared out of nowhere and were glowing orange. Artie sends Pete and Myka to Las Vegas to investigate. After a few exhausted leads they discover that a magician named Val Preston (Steve Valentine) has been gaining attention with his act that involves levitating people. BINGO he's using an artifact, they search his back stage area and he catches them. He gets angry and begins to toss them out when he himself suddenly starts levitating and disappears in the clouds.
Meanwhile at a horse racetrack in London the winning jockeys have been falling from their horses and dying. Claudia and Steve are dispatched pronto Tonto to figure out what is up with that. Turns out that a stable boy had discovered a swatch of an American Indian's saddle blanket (Sitting Bull) and he has been using it to get revenge on the jockeys who have been mistreating the animals.

Back in Vegas Pete and Myka learn that Val was trying to recreate the act of an old magician Monty The Magnificent (Broadway legend Joel Grey) who along with his granddaughter Rose (Nora Zehetner) were planning a big comeback for him before he makes his big finale. Rose acquired a necklace/pendent that a magician had used long ago.

As part of the ongoing season story arc of Artie dealing with the consequences of using Ferdinand Magellan's Astrolabe and his subsequent murdering of Leena, Mrs. Frederic introduces the new Bread & Breakfast owner Abigail Cho (Kelly Hu) who happens to be a psychotherapist that Mrs. F brought in to try to help Artie cope with his problems. Artie fights tooth and nail against being psychoanalyzed, but of course in the end gives in.
On a mysterious note a semi familiar looking woman* is shadowing members of the team. My memory is fuzzy as to who she really is, but I think it is a return character that obviously is up to no good.

All in all I enjoyed this episode (as I do all the episodes) it receives on a scale of one to five 3.5 Warehouse Artifacts ***.5 (sorry I don't have a cute little avatar for that I suppose asterisks will have to do)

In an effort to save the show I will be launching a new feature on Mondays I call "Myka Monday". It will be a visual reminder of the show but primarily just a way to show pictures of the character Myka Bering played by Joanne Kelly.

Due to a few different factors this first installment wasn't actually posted on Wednesday even though it was first drafted Wednesday evening.

*EDIT for update: Ah in a recent "Previously  on Warehouse 13" episode prologue (for Episode 4.17 "What Matters Most") they showed her again and named her in dialogue. Charlotte Dupres (Polly Walker) who first appeared in Episode 4.11 "The Living and The Dead" she was bad news in that episode and will be bad news in later episodes leading up to and probably including the End of Season 4 Cliffhanger.

Warehouse 13: Bittersweet News

I recently saw some WAREHOUSE 13 news from SyFy Sci-Fi Channel. They have renewed the series for Season 5.
Yay! Unfortunately it is the last season for the series and they are only going to have 6 episodes. WTF? ONLY HALF A FRACKIN' SEASON? UGH.
This series is one of my absolute favorite shows "currently" on television. After it goes away There will be only one or two shows still on Sci-Fi that I like. Most of my fave shows right now are on CBS.

I really hope that SyFy reconsiders and makes Season 5 a Full length season and RENEWS the series BEYOND Season 5.

Another Name Misspelling: ACK!

The other day I was at a food place that uses your name to track your order while you are waiting for it. Well on the receipt they misspelled my name. It wasn't as bad as the mailing list that butchers my name as "KIRL" (which I blogged about in my Mailinglist Name Misspelling Rant) but it was a mistake just the same. I think part of it was the cashier/order taker was an English as a second Language person. I now forget what nationality the person was. Any way this time they misspelled my name as "CORK". What?

OK I might understand being mistaken for this Guy:

Or maybe this weird looking guy:

But this?
Oh well things could be worse.
