A few weeks ago (Thursday January 14) I got a PWE (Plain White Envelope) from a purchase I made for some trading cards. ON my other blogs (CaptKirk42 and Curly W Cards) I have or will blog soon about this purchase with the details of the cards 2 football and 1 baseball. but here I will show a little bit more the envelope that they came in:
Yes that is a BATMAN FOREVER stamp.

DVD Update: Wizards & Warriors

Wizards & Warriors (1983)
WARNING: This is an ANCIENT Post! Only slightly updated.
This post has been sitting around for
The long awaited television series Wizards and Warriors (1983) has finally come to DVD 30 years after it originally aired sort of. Unfortunately the series was very short lived having only 8 episodes total. I'm not even sure if all of them were aired. Again an unfortunate event is it is only available as an "On Demand" Title. Meaning it is made to order ONLY when ordered online and burned onto a DVD-R not a regular mass printing.
Marco (Walter Olkewicz) and Prince Erik Greystone (Jeff Conaway)
When I first heard this was coming to DVD I was super excited since I loved the show and hadn't seen it since the original airings. Sure some people have been selling pirated copies on all formats (even some VHS copies) on Ebay for years. However, they were typical pirate low-quality copies not even worth watching. Most copied from an ancient VHS copy.
The Wizard Vector (Clive Revill) and The Witch Bethal (Randi Brooks)
I'm not sure if I am going to take the plunge on this one. I'm not too thrilled about the ON Demand concept. There are some other titles of shows/movies that are in this same ON DEMAND DVD-R boat. I can't think of those titles at this moment and I don't want to do any more research for this ancient post. I would love to get this, but I'm just not sure.
The best photos of the show seem to be at a fan website called wizardsandwarriors.org of course. It is an old site and probably hasn't been updated. That is the site I got the screen shots from. It seems to be the only site people have gotten stuff from, they have the most variety of images, i.e. more than just what a quick Google image search gives you. The DVD cover shot is at several sites, most of them I think are from people who got the DVD and reviewed it on some online forum.

An Update of Sorts
A Book Update and Maybe More
(or Less)
I have been doing a little house cleaning here on this blog by updating somethings that were severely outdated. One of those was my reading list static page. I only had a link to my Goodreads booklist. I have beefed it up some with recent reads from the last few years. I still have more to go and since my online list says I have 472 books read and I know there are more books I have read that I haven't even logged in on the list. Many of those I have to make sure the correct edition is logged in. If I keep up with it eventually due to character limitations for pages (something like 1MB of data) whenever I reach that limit I will have to break the page up some. I know one thing would be to break off the Series that I have listed onto a series page, or if the series is big enough break off it's own page. Sort of what I have done with Charmed already but for now I have decided to keep the Charmed books on the overall list as well. For some I might just have an ongoing post rather than a static page devoted.
If I have reviewed a book I have linked to my review as posted on this blog, or wherever else whenever. For now I have the list alphabetical by author's last name (but shown first name first). After I have added to my satisfaction, or patience I might tweak the page to make things easier to read, like switching to showing last name first. Maybe I should do that anyway. Hmm.
It has also been a while (try years not just months) since I've posted a review, let alone actually written one. I've been planning on correcting that.

State Of The Blog: 2015 Recap
State of The Blog
2015 Edition
2015 Edition
As I sort of detected and suspected about halfway through the year this past year 2015 I DID NOT meet my minimum posting quota for blogging. Lets see how I did anyway:
January: 1
February: 1
March: 5
April: 1
May: 3
June: 5
July: 3
August: 1
September: 1
October: 1
November: 1
December: 1
TOTAL: 24
Monthly Average: 2
This year I FAILED the yearly goal of 32 posts per year. That is the 3rd time in 10 years, but it had been 4 years since the last time, and this failure was the "best" of the "worst". There were several factors this year, the regular procrastinating. Not concentrating on What to blog about. Plus early on I was concentrating on trying to meet my book reading goal of a minimum of 20 books for the year. I beat that one by one book and am currently about 20% through what would have been book #22 but will officially be counted as book one for 2016 since that was the year I Finished it not started it.
Now lets look at how the 2015 blogging matches up with past years:
2006 - 32
2007 - 43
2008 - 36
2009 - 34
2010 - 18
2011 - 20
2012 - 38
2013 - 93
2014 - 57
2015 - 24
Yearly Average: 39.50
2015 brings the yearly average from 41.22 down to 39.50 an almost 2 post drop per year. The monthly average in 2015 was only 2 instead of the 2.6? to meet the yearly goal. So all in all it wasn't THAT bad, but it still hurts. I is like an NFL team going 6-10 instead of breaking even at 8-8. Not terrible but still a losing season.
I hope to improve on my blogging this year in 2016.

Happy New Year 2015 to 2016
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
In a few hours we will go through the annual ritual of recognizing another full orbit of the Earth Around the Sun by changing the entire time keeping book on the wall (aka: Calendar). At this time of year many people make resolutions and vows to supposedly change their life for the better. Many more people will break those vows and many people like myself will not even attempt doing either. Well I do sort of have one, and it is blog related. In a few days (maybe only hours if I put an effort into it) I will make my annual January "State of the Blog" post where I examine my posting history of the last 12 months, and see if I met my personal posting quota goal of a minimum of 32 posts in the year. I knew early on this past year of 2015 that I would fall short of that quota. I barely scratched the surface of posting the bare-bones minimal one post per month. I only have myself to blame for slacking off on that personal goal.
For other personal goals I reached my book reading goal that I keep track of on Goodreads of at least 20 books read. I read 21.3 as of right now I am 30% (page 114 of 378 pages) into book number 22, however I will not have it finished by year's end so the official tracking will only show 21 books and in a few days when I do finish this current book I am reading it will be tracked as my first book read in 2016. My personal tracking I mark the book as being read for both years since it is a transaction book. I started reading it about a week ago. Technically 2 or 3 weeks ago, but I re-read the first 15 pages or so that I had originally read to better keep refreshed on this book.

Get Me To The Kirk On Time!
Get Me To The Kirk On Time!
Those who are worldly wise of course know that Kirk is Scottish for "Church" and that Kirk is also has some old Norse and Germanic roots. As regular readers know often times I have gotten some strange misspellings on my order receipt from those restaurants that ask for your name rather than bother assigning your order the number that the cash register automatically assigns to it. I guess they do it to be more personal and friendly. It is also a test of the intelligence and spelling skills of the order takers. How well they listen and hear what you said. I am often tempted to give my name as "Captain Kirk" and see how often they screw that up, but my normal name of Kirk is butchered enough by some of these kids who can't give the proper change if the cash register goes on the blink. They will also stare at you if you give them an amount that will give you full dollar bills or silver change instead of a few odd pennies.
So the entry for this post was more divine intervention I think than just some punk order taker not knowing how to spell the simple name of "Kirk". This guy came up with "C-U-R-C-K". Hey he got it Foneticallee excuse me phonetically Correct sort of. "Curck" if I spelled my name that way most people would think my name was Church, which in some ways it sort of is.
If I had my way I would rather be mistaken for someone like OH the current Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Happy Halloween! 2015 Edition
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Sorry for a quick and dirty post. Odd that it has to be a quick one since I've had all month to come up with something. I'm not sure what my original idea for some post was but I had an idea for something earlier this week but kept putting it off. To keep up with my minimum of one post per month I had to get something up. So here is a pick of me from Halloween 1986 (could be 87 but I think it was 86 because I don't think we were allowed to dress up for Halloween after that) when I worked at a toy store. The picture was taken in the stockroom area of the store near the front of the store if I recall correctly. The vest I'm wearing is the uniform vest employees wore at the time, you can see part of my name badge as well.
I was a dead pirate or skeleton pirate. Yes I am wearing glasses over the skeleton make-up. This was before I started wearing contacts. I had borrowed the striped shirt from a friend. He said it was his uniform from when he worked at a seafood fast food place the rest of the costume was my own. Not sure what the white scarf is or came from, been too long.

Meme Game: Er Name Game
OK you know the drill. Yep in a semi-recent trip to a food place that uses your name to identify your order the cashier misheard my name and spelled it wrong for the order/receipt. Another new one for me, this is one of the better ones. CARK
Apparently guys named Marc with a "C" also get called "CARK".
When it comes to cooking I'm beside myself:
This reminds me of the 1960s song "The Name Game" by Shirley Ellis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LulWZQo46Ao I found a cover version of it from the TV show American Horror Story with Jessica Lange https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFf4TYGpFj0
So another misspelling similar but not quite. Sorry Quark not this time, maybe the next one.

Doctor Who: Getting Psyched For Season 9
OK so this is just sort of an observation. I'm not doing any speculating. I'll leave the speculation up to the fanboys and fangirls who are already buzzing around the Internet with their crazy ideas. Most all of which will be disproved. Anyway the observation I am talking about is more just a look-a-like thing not a speculation. If it was a speculation it would be crazier than just crossing over two totally different fandoms from two totally different production companies from two totally different genres of television, and two totally different countries.
In recent weeks the teaser promo trailer for Doctor Who Season 9 (Series 9 as they say in it's original UK) at the very end shows a first glimpse of the highly anticipated appearance of Maisie Williams one of the actors in Game of Thrones a show I have not gotten into mostly because I don't have time for anymore epic television series to get into.
Whovian fanboys and fangirls are doing their best speculating about who her character is. From the trailer it is apparent that The Doctor knows her, has met her previously and is a bit surprised at her appearance. Is she Jenny? The Doctor's daughter from the episode of the same name. Jenny is the forerunner for the mystery character identity. Is she Susan? Very unlikely but possible. Is she Romana? Is she an earlier version of Missy? UM NO that one is crazier than Missy actually being The Master which actually became a reality, but I still say no to that one. I really hope she isn't any of the characters the fandom is speculating about, even if they have an excellent reason behind them.
My speculation is that she is Barbara (based on the sweater she was wearing in one of the first photos of her on the Doctor Who set), but I seem to be the only person in the universe who is thinking that. Could she be Ace? That would be wicked cool if Ace returned but not without Sophie Aldred. She is probably a character that the audience has not seen previously, but the Doctor knows extremely well like they did a while back with Tasha Lem.
*Sigh* I didn't intend to spend this entire post talking about Doctor Who so I'll get to my original observation point.
Based on the images from the trailer she reminded me of Cote de Pablo who played Ziva David on NCIS.
Like I said I'm not speculating anything by that. That is the sort of thing that is only in fan fiction from fans who have a very wide spectrum of shows they are super obsessed fans of.
